Introducing day 4 of our Guest post series for the 24 days of Xmas – Laura.
1, Introduce yourself, tell us about you, what you do, why did you start blogging?
My name is Laura. I am a 25 year old blogger from London, who works in Retail Management. I began my blog in 2013, where I have been sharing my thoughts on Beauty, Food & Drink, Fashion and Travel based topics over the years. I wanted to have my own little space on the internet where I could post about things I am passionate about, and share these with people who had similar interests.
2. How do you spend Xmas day?
Usually we start the day with breakfast. Then we would all gather round for the opening of presents with a tea or coffee. Once all the presents have been opened, we would tidy away all the wrapping paper and proceed to watch Christmas films until lunch is ready, usually around 3pm. In the evening, we would play board games and have a dessert – maybe a cake or cheesecake or chocolate brownies etc.
3. Best money saving tip for Xmas?
Look out for 3 for 2 deals on gifts. Always check supermarkets/pound stores for little stocking fillers.
Don’t go overboard when buying Christmas food – only buy what you really need otherwise it’ll be wasted.
4. What present would you love to receive if money was no object?
I’ve recently passed my driving test, so a brand new car would be amazing.
5. Breakfast on Xmas morning usually consists of?
I like to have scrambled eggs with toast, topped off with some smoked salmon. With a coffee and glass of Bucksfizz
6. Do you do anything special on Xmas Eve to celebrate?
On Christmas Eve, we usually all get together and have a buffet styled dinner in the evening. I’m talking mini cocktail sausages, sausage rolls, salads, crisps and dips, vol au vents, chicken skewers, breadsticks, a selection of cold meats and fish etc. This has been something my family have been doing for years.
7. Favourite Xmas song and why?
It would be impossible to choose just one song as my favourite. There’s so many good ones!
Wizzard – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas Is You
Wham! – Last Christmas
8. Favourite festive film?
It’s got to be Elf or Home Alone
9. Who do you spend Xmas with?
10. What does Christmas mean to you? Do you think we have lost the original meaning of Christmas?
Christmas is all about spending time together with your loved one; family and friends. Enjoying each others company and having a fun, relaxing time. Sometimes people go all out at Christmas and spend hundreds of pounds to try and get the best presents, whereas some people simply cant afford to do this. For me, it should always be about “the thought that counts”, and you should be happy with what gifts, if any, you receive.
