It is always nice to enjoy a lovely holiday but it isn’t worth putting it on credit and having to pay back constantly afterwards so there are a few things you can do to afford a nice holiday without the impending debt after your trip.
1 – Shop around
We wanted to go to Disney Paris however we thought it would be really expensive for 6 of us, however we saw a deal for buy 2 nights and get 2 free so we enquired with the travel agents and it was for booking a year in advance which was perfect as it gave us time to pay it off monthly. The cost was £1500 for 5 days in the park, staying in Newport Bay hotel with half board food for 4 nights which we didn’t think was too bad considering overnight with Alton towers resort was going to cost £600 with just breakfast. The only other cost was the ferry, however we found the price of £90 for return going on the Monday and return the Friday with our car, so we would do a 3 hour journey to Dover, then boat then 3 hour trip once we got to Calais but many people say the drive is easy and just a straight line. So essentially a week at Disneyland Paris, we could book hotels at Dover if we really wanted for each trip, has cost us about £2k which I think is pretty reasonable.
2 – Top Cashback and other relevant sites let you claim money back on your holidays so you can essentially save money, do be sure to check the terms and conditions of each break though to make sure you meet the criteria to claim your cash back as you have to order from a certain website or book a certain type of break to qualify.
3 – Explore the UK. Many places in the UK are beautiful for holidays to explore so you just need a base. We find Hoseasons and similar parks pretty reasonable prices for weeks away. We went Monday – Friday to Scotland in a caravan with kids club passes, swimming pool and entertainment on site for £120 for 6 of us. Then we usually look at trip advisor and see what’s around and plan our days accordingly. North Wales is a beautiful place to explore and you can take a trip to Llandudno, Conwy and places like Rhyl. Then we had another trip to Ashby de la Zouch which was a great base for Drayton Manor and many attractions in Leicester such as Conkers. Hoseasons also let you pay a deposit and then set up a direct debit to help you pay before you go away.
4 – Last Minute. Deals can be great if you are able to leave it to the last minute. If you have money left at the end of the month send it over to your savings account and then watch it build up. If you are looking for a holiday abroad check places like jamesvillaholidays who offer private villas with pools or go to travel agents that usually have last minute holiday deals in their windows, however you may end up with no holiday so can be quite risky if you can’t find a good and suitable deal.
